The build quality feels incredibly solid, and the manual focus ring has just the right amount of damped resistance. It’s sharp even wide open at f/2.8, which surprised me for such an old lens.

The bokeh on this lens is something else—silky smooth backgrounds that make portraits pop without any digital tricks. Focus ring has that classic damped feel, and even used, the glass is pristine. It’s heavy, but you forget that once you see the sharpness wide open.

Shot a portrait session with this yesterday and the bokeh at f/2.8 is just gorgeous—smooth and dreamy without being harsh. Sharpness wide open impressed me even on my crop sensor body.
