RSPB Avocet 8x42mm Monocular

Slips right into my jacket pocket, so it’s been on every dog walk and birding trip this month. The twist-focus is smooth enough to track a wren hopping between branches, and even at dusk the 42mm glass holds a decent brightness.

I took this on a misty morning walk and the clarity through the 42mm objective lens was impressive even in low light. It’s compact enough to slip in my jacket pocket, and the twist-up eyecup makes for quick adjustments when spotting birds.

The optics are very clear for such a compact body—the 42mm objective really pulls in light well. I do wish the focus wheel had a bit more resistance for precise adjustments, but for the price it’s a solid piece of kit.
