Built for the hybrid world of stills and video, it brings together artistry, precision, and versatility in one lightweight package.

Perfectly Balanced for Portrait Photography

At its core, the Canon RF 85mm F1.4L VCM is crafted for portraiture. The 85mm focal length offers a natural, flattering perspective, while advanced aspherical and UD glass elements ensure images are crisp, detailed, and free from distortion. Combined with Canon’s cutting-edge coatings, backgrounds melt into soft, dreamy bokeh that makes every portrait a masterpiece.

Low-Light Performance with Creative Depth

The wide f/1.4 aperture unlocks incredible low-light capability, allowing photographers and filmmakers to work confidently in challenging conditions. Its 11-blade circular iris delivers cinematic depth of field and beautifully smooth out-of-focus areas, giving creators the freedom to produce atmospheric stills and video with a truly professional look.

Lightweight Design, Professional Handling

Despite its professional-grade optics, the Canon RF 85mm F1.4L VCM is surprisingly compact. At nearly half the size and weight of the RF 85mm F1.2L USM, it offers greater portability without compromising performance. Sharing the unified design of Canon’s F1.4 hybrid prime range, it ensures seamless handling and balance, making it ideal for long shooting sessions or on-the-move creativity.

Fast, Precise Autofocus with Minimal Breathing

Equipped with Canon’s advanced VCM (Voice Coil Motor) technology, this lens delivers lightning-fast autofocus that is both accurate and smooth. For videographers, the minimal focus breathing ensures natural transitions during focus pulls, keeping the subject’s emotion sharp while maintaining a cinematic flow.

Customisable Control for Hybrid Creativity

The Canon RF 85mm F1.4L VCM is engineered to adapt to your style. A customisable Lens Control Ring and Lens Function Button give you intuitive control over essential settings. The dedicated Iris Ring provides precise, silent aperture adjustment, a feature filmmakers will particularly value when making seamless exposure changes during a shot.

As part of Canon’s professional L-series, this lens is designed for reliability in demanding environments. Weather-sealing and an oil-repellent fluorine coating safeguard against dust and moisture, ensuring that your creative vision isn’t limited by the elements. Whether in the studio or on location, the RF 85mm F1.4L VCM is built to perform.
