I needed a reliable 400-speed film for some indoor shots and was really pleased with how fine the grain stayed even when I pushed it a stop. The negatives have a nice broad tonal range that scans beautifully.

The tonal range on this 400-speed black and white film handles contrast really well, from deep shadows to bright highlights. I’ve been getting sharp negatives with fine grain, even when pushing it a stop in development. Perfect for an all-around walkaround film.

Shooting these in overcast light and the tonal range still held up beautifully—nice broad grays without losing the shadows. The fine grain is there, but the sharpness surprised me at 400. Definitely going to be my everyday black and white stock from now on.
